Brief Description:  Engine Mounts 7 (twice)

The lower mounts should have been easier than the upper right? After much wrestling, the previously inverted the fuselage lined up, I had the lower mounts in place. I needed to trim them at the gear bow just a little and I floxed in the spruce spacers.

The next day I set up the layup and as you see in pic one, 5 X 2 ply fitted pieces for the mount pads (10 ply). These are important to lock the spar to the fuselage and plans state you need at least 7 ply upper and lower.

Well I set it all up but it just wasn't happening. I couldn't get the mount back into position, my flox was too thick and maybe the spruce pieces weren't quite right. In the end I pulled out all the wet cloth and spent another hour cleaning up the mounts and getting all the wet epoxy off the spar. If its not right, just go again! Later that night I did another trial set up and trimmed and reshaped the spuce fillets. Wrong angle one side and too wide the other. Just little trims. I also again trimed the extrusions at the gear mounts and re alodyined that small area.

That was enough for yesterday. Today I did more dry mounting. 8 plys were enough and the right amount of flox should do it. Pic 3 shows the lower mounts now in place and curing. Its a bit of a challenge to get it all clamped down and measuring correctly. I think we are good now.
