Brief Description:  Wing Jigs (1)

I went with MDF for the wing jig material rather than plywood. MDF may not have even existed when the plans came out. A friend at a local timber place cut them to size for me which was a great start,

I then drew lines and glued on photocopies of the plans full size 'A' sheets. It was very disappointing to find that these were not accurate when I joined them together and even the butt lines were about 3 degrees out. I had an idea that perfect jigs would make perfect cores but nothing is so easy on this build. It takes a little more than just doing 1 + 1 to get 2...it's always a debate and a good think.

Next, I made partitial cuts at the lines (see pic 3) and then glued on, and screwed 17 link pieces. I made the cuts first so that the bolts could be put in place with the templates full size. If you think about it if I did the templates, cut them out and then made the cuts the result would incorrect by the width of the saw cut. Hey, they will be out anyway but perhaps not as much with this method.
