Welcome to my Alaska Sonex site.

No, it's still not finished yet. I ran into multiple roadblocks both medical and lifestyle. Regardless, I think I am getting back on the horse. Restarted my project as of July 2021. That's many years since I started it. I have completed almost all of the major construction but, I felt that my canopy installation, as well as the cowling, just were not acceptable. So, I ordered and received replacement blanks for both of these items and am currently working on getting them onto the airplane. My son- who is now 16 years old, has motivated me to get this thing moving. I am very grateful.

Anyway, hang on as we re-enter the homestretch to get NANO in the air. It IS going to happen.

I’ve chosen the Sonex for a number of reasons, primarily because it is an exciting and capable little airplane. Secondly, the economics of building a Sonex when compared with many other experimental aircraft are very attractive. Finally, the Sonex is a reasonable build which I, with my non-professional skill level, can safely complete.

A Sonex is not exactly what one would consider a conventional Alaskan aircraft (there is only one Waiex in the state and no Sonex). Regardless, it will be a great recreational tool for me and my family. Perhaps my next build will be that STOL cub-like aircraft everyone thinks I should be building. For now, however, I'll just be excited about what I'm building and dream about the day I actually get her finished and in the air.

Oh, because everyone else seems to think it prudent to note this on their own sites, I should add that the information contained here is my own. Sonex, LLC had nothing to do with it. These are my ideas and experiences. I have no formal mechanical training and am an utter amateur. Lucky to be able tie my own shoes actually. If you do anything I might suggest then you do so at your own risk.
