Manual Reference:  Trim Canopy Skin
Brief Description:  Canopy Frame 14- Trim Canopy Skin more.

Trimmed the overlap canopy glare shield skin to be only 1/8 overlapped to the fuselage skin for now. I intend to make it a flush fit, but its easier to remove that last 1/8 inch then to wish I still had it attached if flush just doesn't work well. Don't know why this decision is so difficult to make. If I cut the skin flush and for whatever reason the canopy frames settles in just a little high, then what do I do? I still think I'll go flush. Also, I ordered several weatherstrip examples from McMaster Carr. I tried this one to see how it seals between the canopy frame and the canopy deck below it. It presses onto the frame and has a 3/8 collapsible tube that compresses when the canopy is closed down. Looks like it will seal very well. Of course, I'll try some of the others too. On my RV6A, the canopy gap between the frame and the deck gets narrower than 1/8 right about where the canopy skin aft edge sits. I think this weatherstrip will be too tight in there and I may have to make it thinner for about 3 inches. My concern is if it is too thick, it may force the canopy frame up and screw up the nice fit between the canopy skin and the forward fuselage skin. We'll test it to see.

Blue outline was overlap of skin. Trimmed it 1/8 from being flush for now.

Slipped a piece of weatherstrip on to see how I liked the fit. Seems OK.
