Manual Reference:  F-607 Replaced
Brief Description:  #2 F-607 right half removed and replaced.

Photo 1 shows the removed right half F607 sitting in front of replacement half being positioned for match drilling. A certain person will recognize the bent up F-607 right half after a cardboard box of stuff dropped on it a couple years ago. I tried to reshape it but it was too flimsy, I believe it was significantly weakened near the fuselage longeron from being bent over nearly 45 degrees. So, another order to Vans, and I drilled out 28 AD3 flush rivets plus 12 AD4 rivets and was able to get that half out. There were 3 AD3 keeper rivets that had been set between the side and bottom stringers and the F607 whose heads were hidden under the fuselage skin. I imagine those were positioning rivets when the fuselage was upside down in the jig and held the F607 in position on the longerons and stringers, eventually covered by the skin. I drilled the shop heads off those with a #30 bit and was able to remove the bad F-607 half. I will draw a rivet line on the new half and match drill the holes through the skin, then remove and dimple this new half and prime it, install it and rivet it in place. There is also a top skin stringer that runs between F-606 and F-608 that was also bent. I have the replacement for that as well. Only two rivets hold that in place at this time so its an easy fix. More priming, but I need to get this out of the way so I can fit the two aft top skins in place, cut out the forward most aft skin for the rear cabin window and get those upper bulkhead rivet lines layed out and pilot drilled, then match drill the skins from inside, etc.
