Brief Description: Fit tips to wing for hinge attachments
Hinges are my attach choice. MS20257P4 and P3. The P4 (wider) is attached to the wing such that there's a solid aluminum portion of the hinge extending out past the wing skin. This assures you will not see hinge gaps between the wing and the tip when assembled. You attach a narrower P3 hinge to the P4 and the P3 gets drilled into the wingtip fiberglass. This happens on the top and the bottom of each wingtip. So, the work order is 1. mark and drill #40 holes into the top and bottom of the wing skin (1.25 inch spacing for me). 2. Position,and tape the wing tip in place, centering the wingtip to the neutral aileron. 3. Match drill the wingtip to the predrilled wing holes. 4. Remove wing tip. Remove the hinge pin from the P4, cut hinge to desired length (NOT the hinge pin yet. It needs to be longer than the hinge for attachments purposes), then match drill the wider P4 hinge half to the wing holes. 5. The hinge pins are temporalily cut so they extend back about 2 inches aft of the trailing edge of the wingtip.This leaves a long piece of the hinge pin exposed at the aft end. Thats ok. 6. Remove the wide P4 hinge, attach it to the P3 section to make a full hinge and cleco the P4 to the inside of wing tip edge holes previously drilled. 7. With the hinge in place and open, drill the P3 section into the fiberglass tip using the same spacing as the clecoed P4 half. 8. Pull the hinge pin and P4 and cut off the wingtip edge that was holding the p4. This will be the spacer which will attach to the wing after being cut off.
