Brief Description: Pitot Location Decision and IFR provisions
Spent some time reviewing the instructions for the Pitot Mast from Safe Air. After reading a bunch of posts on VAF, I decided that the best location woudl be the outboard bay from the bellcrank as the instructions recommend. The picture below shows the location of the mast and the original Van;s Pitot location. Since I want a heated Pitot I went with the Dynon pitot.
The Mast mount hole will be cut in the bottom skins after all other items are complete. I also made a few other decisions after reviewing what else needs to be done internal to the wings before the skins are riveted on.
Reviewing my mission, I am setting things up for IFR. I will be installing a Garmin SL30 NAV/COM which has VOR, ILS (Localizer, Glide scope, Marker Beacon). As a result I made some provisions and purchased a Bob Archer wingtip VOR wingtip antenna and Marker beacon antenna kit for the Right wing. This required running a few more bushing to the end of the wing for the RG-400 coax.
