Brief Description:  Make the C-704 Aft Canopy Frame Splice Plate.

Time to fabricate the C-704 aft Canopy Frame Channel Splice Plate.
As others have come across, the plans are in error in 2 places.

If you use the plans call out for rivet locations on the splice plate, then a rivet hole will intersect with a tooling hole on the underlying channel. Image 1 shows my altered rivet locations to eliminate the interference. The green circle is the tooling hole location on the underlying channel. Notice I replaced the one interfering rivet with 2 rivets, one above and one below the tooling hole.

The plans spell out a procedure to drill this splice plate to the channels on the opposite (forward) side of the channels because the roll bar is in the way. Well, because of the flange on the splice plate this procedure is impossible. Can't be done. Period. So, while drilling all the holes in the splice plate I also drilled matching holes in a template “Splice Plate” that does not have a interfering flange. I'll use this, no flange splice plate, to drill the holes in the second channel. You'll see this later on.
