Brief Description:  Alternative Canopy Release Handle Position.

I've decided to do the most popular Canopy Release Mechanism modification. Some, seems like most, builders mount the Canopy Release handle in the vertical as show here instead of horizontal through the instrument panel. I've decided to to both. I'll have just one handle, but I can install it in the vertical or horizontal, which ever I prefer. And I can change it between the two anytime I want.

So, I fabricated this additional Bearing Block and attached it to the bottom of the F-697 Hat Channel. Of course I used the lathe drill to fabricate this bearing block. I have perfect alignment between the upper and lower bearing blocks. This is a real nice way to mount the Release Handle and I think I prefer it. We'll see. If I need the extra instrument panel space it will for sure be mounted this way.
