Brief Description: Make Elevator horn drill spacer block.
The plans have you make a drilling spacer block to clamp in-between the horns. The idea is to get a perfectly perpendicular hole through the block when drilling the holes that connect the horns to the elevator push tube.
I made my drill block out of aluminum. I had a piece of 0.75 aluminum block and added thinner sheets to get the exact space I needed. My drill block is 0.847 inches.
As for drilling the perfectly perpendicular #30 hole I used my lathe. I don’t trust my drill press for perpendicularity. Hey is “perpendicularity” a real word.
Any way I found that after drilling the hole in the block I had 1.6 degrees of motion. Say what, how can that happen. The hole is bigger then the drill bit? So I tried again but started with a #31 bit and finished with a #30 reamer. This was a much tighter hole. By golly I want perfection.
