First you need to draw a line along the length of the hinge. I put mine smack in the middle. That's 1/4" from the edge. I used small balsa wood spacers under the skin to clap the hinge in place. These balsa spacers kept from clamping on the hinge tube. Then match drill the hinge through the skin. Easy enough.
