Brief Description:  Tank leak test preparation. Part1.

First, we need to prep the tanks. This envolves sealing every possible source of a leak. We'll be doing a 1 PSI air leak test with a manometer.

Image 1 shows the the fuel cap seal. I have read many fourm entries where the fuel caps are hard to seal. I took advice from Dan Checkoway and put the cap in a rubber glove. This keeps air from leaking through the center of the cap. I smeared EZ Turn Fuel Lubricant on the outside of the glove then inserted the cap. Then cut off the extra glove hanging outside the cap. Then Duck tape for added protection.

Image 2 shows the inboard end of the tank. The fuel return and fuel pickup are capped off again using EZ Turn. The manometer 3/8" clear tubing is simply pressed onto the fuel vent fitting. Again, use EZ Turn.

Image 3 shows the fuel test thing you get from Vans. I got 2 of them. One for each tank. It allows you to use a simple bike pump to presureize the tank. I used EZ Turn for this as well.
