Brief Description: Locate holes, Lower Longeron and wend mont.
Anytime you drill through steel firewall weld monts is a time to take you time and make sure you locate the holes such that edge distance is not violated.

All four of these sites caution about hole edge distance in the steel firewall weld mont going through the F-717 lower longerons. Well, I found this issue to be intriguing and spend way to much time analyzing it. Image 1 shows one of my drawings to help understand what was really going on.
The bottom line is. Move the 4 holes 1/16 inch inboard. Image 3 is a stolen a picture from Steve Lynn’s site that shows the dimension change. Thanks Steve. Do this and all will be good. Ignore it and run the risk of violating edge distance on the weld mont.
