Brief Description:  Center Section - Drill floor platenut anchor holes

It’s time to get busy and drill all the floor platenut anchor holes. I’ll be using my new platenut jig I got from Avery. If I had to buy this tool again I would get it from ‘The Yard’. It looks like the same tool and is a bunch cheaper. My platenut jig is the kind that can be used for single or double anchor platenuts. Thus, it’s a bit wider then the jig that can only do the typical double anchor platenut. It’s actually too wide to do some of the platenuts on the floor ribs. The Yard, unlike Avery, has both styles for a good price. I would get them both from The Yard.

Here you can see the platenut jig in use. I always put a small clamp on over the hole that I am not drilling for 2 reasons. You’ll be doing so many of these that you get into auto pilot and if you don’t cover up the hole you don’t want to drill, you will inevitably drill it Plus it does secure things somewhat for drilling.

Image 3 shows a location in a floor rib that the platenut jig I have can not be used. It’s too wide. So, I just used a platenut as the jig.
