Brief Description:  F-623 Corner rib - Locate trim for step.

The 623 corner rib has to be trimmed for the optional step. The problem. No where is there information on where on the rib to make this trim and how big to make it. The DWG shows a shaded area and that it. No location or size information. What the heck?

So, I decided again to cleco on the side skin. The side skin has a pilot hole for the center of the 1.5" diameter step pipe. I used string and a clamp to hole the side skin in position and pocked my 12"-3/32" drill bit through the side skin pilot hole, through the center of the 1.5" hole I made in the 725 rib and into a small block of wood clamped onto the 726 rib.

Now I can mark the 623 rib where the step pipe will interfere with the rib. The drill bit represents the center of the step pipe. I actually measured to make sure the bit goes through the center of the 1.5” hole.

I marked the top of the rib flange in the vertical axis. And noticed that the step tube would intersect the rib flange by only 1/8”. The DWG shows the trimmed flange going all the way down to the rib web but I think that is over kill. I did how ever double my measurement and trimmed ¼” off the rib flange.
