Brief Description: Firewall - Final drill firewall to stiffeners.
Once all the predrilled parts are clecoed on, and all the other parts are made, it's time to final drill.
Image 1. The pneumatic drill was useless final drilling the firewall. It spins too fast and doesn't have enough power. The bit kept getting stuck. This stainless steel requires a pwerfull slow speed. I used my electric drill. My sysem was to dip the bit in Boelube prior to drilling each hole. I will retire this bit but I wanted it to last for the entire firewall. Van's have you drill from the back.
Image 2. Needed to match drill the 601E stiffener. Simple. Just cleco clamp it on and drill away. Put a cleco in each hole as you drill them.
Image 3. The firewall recess is then final drilled.
