Brief Description: Firewall - Process firewall recess.
The firewall recess needs a bit of work before it gets final drilled to the firewall.
Image 1. The edges need to be debured just like the firewall itself. Again I just used 180 Grit Emery cloth. It's stainless steel, just like the firewall.
Image 2. The bottom of the side flanges (top of picture) are not well formed. I used my hand seamers and just gave them a big squeeze.
Image 3. The recess comes with 2 large dents on the face. One dent is directly under the piece of white partical board in the picture. I called Vans and the dude back in the shop said that all the parts in stock had dents and that they are produced when the flanges are formed by Van's. So, I clamped, hard, 2 pieces of partical board on each side of the dent. Fixed. Good enough anyway.
