Brief Description:  Flap - Pop rivet flap main spar to ribs.

Time to rivet in (close the door) the flap main spar.

I started out by dealing with the pulled rivets going through the spar into the rib ends. My pop rivet puller was way to big to get it under the curved skin extension. A while back I decided I didn't have a problem modifying my tools in order to get the job done. My cheap $5.00 Harbor Freight puller was not a good choice because it stands really tall and I don't think I would have been successfull.

So, I ground down my good Stanley puller to get this job done. I first ground down the tip attachment to about 1/16" from its origonal 3/16". I got it 1/4" shorter just doing that. Then I took to the top and ground away. You can see how nice it now fits under the curved skin extension. I deflected the skin back just slightly. Not haveing clecoes through the spar on the top helps in getting the curved skin extension to flex back.

The 3 pulled rivets in image 3 are very close to the bend radius of the spar doubler. I modified my Harbor Freight puller to deal with this situation but it's 90 degress different here. The curved skin extension is in the way so I gound down the tip on both sides of the Stanley puller to gain access.

Do I regret grinding on my nice Stanley puller. Heck no. What ever it takes.
