Brief Description:  Compressor Blew a HOSE while not at home.

While on travel my wife Stephanie calls up and says “Hey dear. Just got home and your compressor is running and it's smoking”. Oh crap, really. I left on travel and forgot to turn off the compressor. A rubber hose blew up just downstream of the regulator. Moisture coming out past the regulator rotted the hose.

She turned it off and we don't know how long it was running before she got home.
So, now I've returned home. Its time to service the compressor.

Fix the ruptured hose.
Drain the compressor oil.
Replace with new clean oil.
Drain the tank moisture. Wow, several gallons. The last gallon was tan oil shit stuff.
Service moisture remover.
Service the regulator.

The first 2 pictures show what I saw when I took off the moisture remover glass cup.
Its a wonder it was working with this thing being in that condition.

The third picture is the regulator opened up. Not as bad but really bad.

I totally took them both apart completely and cleaned them thoroughly.
Needless to say I'm more careful about turning off the compressor when I'm not in the shop.
A good friend of mine thought of the idea of getting a countdown timer switch. The kind you see in hotel bathrooms that control the overhead heat lamp. Or you see them controlling the water jets in a hot tub. Sound like a good idea.
