Brief Description: Install NACA vents. Shop head washer. BAD IDEA.
Warning --- Don't use a continuous washer behind the plastic NACA vent ---
I wanted a backing plate for the shop heads holding on the NACA vents. Just doesn't seem right having the shop head against the plastic NACA vent. So. I made up this continuous washer that fits around the vent. Didn't Work at all. The problem with this method is that the rivets will be going through 3 pieces of material. Skin, Vent and washer. I fount that my continuous washer rivet holes did not perfectly align with the skin and vent holes. This mis alignment would not allow the flush manufactured head to fit perfectly flush on the skin. Maybe if I match drilled the washer through the skin instead of through the soft plastic vent I may not of had this problem.
