Brief Description: Assemble F-789 elevator pushrod.
Time to make the F-789 elevator push rod. This push rod goes between the control stick and the bell crank mid fuselage. Found the end bearings.
The rod end that fits inside the pushrod tube was bigger in diameter then the inside diameter of the tube. It didn’t come close to fitting in.
I measured - 0.6635 - Outside diameter of end bearing end. 0.6315 - Inside diameter of push rod.
Holy moly bat man, different by more then 30 thousands.
I decided to reduce the diameter of the rod end bearing instead of increasing the inner diameter of the tube. I use my lathe when ever I can just because its fun to use. I chucked it up, protecting the threads with that fat magic tape. Spun it up and used emery cloth to sand it down until I had a good snug fit.
