I did the lay up work on the mounting plate for the airbox. I started with 1/8" counstruction grade finish plywood. Laid 2 layers of 8oz cloth on each side, using a marine grade fire proof epoxy resin used for fuel / engine compartments on large off-shore vessels...
Using 2 layers of mylar sheets, and 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood, I sandwich it together and applied 200ibs of weight to the entire surface over night. this morning I release the part from the mold and timmed edges.
I extended the part between 2 pieces of wood and jumped up and down on it... did not budge... The strength is fine. I plan to do a fire test on some of the scraps for peace of mind.
The epoxy guys said to let it cure for at least 3 days before testing... They mentioned a gas fire should burn itself out within a few seconds with no visual blisters in the epoxy...
