Brief Description:  Elevator Trim Cable

Not knowing how this cable is put together, was a little intimidating to take apart without getting in deeper than might be recoverable. The control knob end unscrews off the cable then disconnects with a 90 Deg rotation from the ball & cable slit. This has to be done in order to feed it through the valve cover plate.

To disable the push button feature of the cable the plans refers to, requires removing the soft rubber button cap.... but there is no removing it as it is firmly bonded to the hard plastic knob. I used a razor blade to cut a slit in the side the cap to see what I was dealing with inside and the push rod feature fell right out! That's all there is to it. Rather than mickey-mousing some hardward cap over the open end, I glued the cap slit back together with black RTC silicone. You can't even tell it was cut.

The two nuts on the "business end" of the cable have to be removed to slide it through the fuselage bulkheads. Slide the rubber sleeve down onto the shaft and the nuts will slide over the sleeve. Pushing the cable sleeve through the bulkhead fittings is very snug, but it goes.
