To help prevent cracking of the exhaust system, all of the support brackets anchor the pipes to the engine itself and not to anything rigid like the engine mount, firewall, or fuselage. That way the pipes vibrate and flex in concert with the engine itself and are less likely to fail.
There are 3 supports for the Vetterman exhaust system, all of which use flexible hose to allow the system to move with the engine. Each tail pipe has a vertical support running up to one of the sump bolts. The third support runs horizontally and ties the two tail pipes to each other.
All of the supports were installed finger tight so adjustments could be made to make everything symmetrical and balanced.
