Brief Description:  Prep New F-631A Channels

I ordered new F-631A channels after mis-drilling the originals. I actually made two mistakes with the originals. When I was drilling the C-704 splice plate to one of the channels I drilled it to the wrong end. I thought I might be able to salvage this but then, according to the instructions, I drilled the lower ends to the WD-725 side rails before the plexiglass was actually in place. As it turned out, I had about a 3/8" gap between the plexi and the channels at the top. I'm not sure why the instructions don't have you wait until the plexi is in place first so you can push the channels up and out against the channels before drilling the bottoms to the side rails.Anyway, with the new channels in hand, I edge prepped them on the scotchbrite wheel and then staightened them. This is always a challenge for me. I can never seem to get the right combination of fluting to get the webs to lie perfectly flat. I ended up fluting them and then twisting them flat by clamping one end in a vice and manually torquing the other end.
