Brief Description: Left Step: Drill Side Skin; Install Ribs
Today I cut and tapered the plate on the left step to match the contour of the side skin. The F722/724 baggage ribs were then clecoed to the side skin. The step was then positioned such that the rivet holes in the plate aligned with the vertical rib. I just carefully held the step in place and used the holes in the plate to match drill the step to the side skin and vertical rib. You can see that the plastic support block has been temporarily installed but there is a small problem. The tube does not extend all of the way through the plastic block to the rib. It is maybe 1/4" short. This will be a problem when it comes time to drill the tube to the block. I doubt there will be enough edge distance for the bolt that goes through the tube to secure it to the block since the block needs to sit flush against the rib. I need some sort of shim between the block and the rib in order to have move of the tube inserted into the block.
