Brief Description:  Dimpled Skins

Dimpling the skins was the most frustrating task for me yet. It is VERY easy to put scratch's and dents in the skins. I wish I could have done a perfect job here but I had two problems. First, the male dimple die in my table was just a hair lower than the supporting table so when I hammered away with the mallet, I was actually making small impressions around each dimpled hole. I didn't discover this until I had completed top side of the right skin. Bummer. Probably only noticable to me but it bothers me. It was easily corrected by adding two washers under the male dimple die. The second problem was on the second to last inner hole closest to the fold of the skins on the left side. David did a great job helping me keep the skins spread apart while I shifted the skins onto the male die and then hit the shaft with the mallet. However, on this hole, the skin popped off the die just before I hit it with the mallet. My first small dent. I was able to smooth this out somewhat but noticeable.
