Brief Description: Completed HS-411PP / VA-146 Hinge Assemb
One of the HS-411PP brackets was pre-drilled as was the VA-146 bearing. Just followed the directions in the manual and clamped everything together on the spar. Once everything was aligned and clamped in place, I used the 6 in. #30 drill to drill the 4 aft (top) holes, cleco'ing while I went. You can't drill the 2 forward holes (bottom) while the assembly is attached to the rear spar since the chuck of the drill comes too close to the reinforcement bars. Just removed the assembly and drilled the final two holes. Everything was then taken apart, deburred and finally riveted together. The plans call for AN470 AD4-5 rivets but using the Avery rivet gauge, these were too short. I ended up using AN470 AD 4-6. The pneumatic squeezer made easy work of completing this assembly.
