Brief Description:  Drill 3/8 Holes in Sticks for Wiring; Secure Stick

Today I drilled 3/8" holes in the base of each control stick for the wiring that will run up to the Ray Allen G205 grip / switches. I installed rubber grommets into each of these holes to protect the wiring.

Van's had a service bulletin about the removeable co-pilot stick. Apparently someone had an accident when they were flying from the right seat trying to land and the stick came out. The service bulletin requires an AN3-13A bolt to secure the stick so this doesn't happen to others. I drilled the 3/16" hole per the bulletin but it wasn't straight. Drilling through a tube straight is virtually impossible unless you have a jig in a drill press. I did my best to line things up but wasn't very successful. The bolt is actually angled downward and neither the head of the bolt or the nut are flush against the stick. I'll have to order some spherical washers to take care of this. More items for my shopping list.
