Brief Description: Rudder cable fairing work
|
|
Every once in a while, the plans just don't make sense. At that point the photo assembly guide is usually a help. Today, neither was working for me. It turns out that the part, as shown, really doesn't fit that way without trimming. There is also no decodeable information about the slot that is cut through the nylon fairlead. Is it horizontal or tipped? If so, at what angle? I put out a question to the list, and got enough clues to give me comfort in proceeding. As you can see, I felt I needed to understand the cable geometry, so I rigged a dummy "cable", which helped me approximate the angle of its path. All in all, lots of fun. It took an insanely long time to get comfortable with my technique. As a result, I only completed one before running out of steam. Tomorrow I'll be able to knock out the other side in less than one hour.
