Brief Description:  Disassembled and partially cleaned Corvair engine

With phone assistance from my friend, Dave Thompson, I was able to remove all the accessories, remove all case studs, crack the case and remove the pistons and rods from the crank. This freed the case to come apart for inspection, cleaning and reworking. Everything looks good, with one small exception. There is a non-factory welded gusset toward the bottom of one half of the case. I presume some minor damage had to be repaired. I'll consult with William Wynne before investing anymore time in this engine. This was an evening of significant learning for me, and I'm truly excited to move forward on the engine when finances allow. More cleaning ahead!
