Brief Description:  Riveted Dynon trays to panel plates.

Today, Charlotte and I riveted the Dynon trays to the panel plates. We used a combination of a hand squeezer and pneumatic rivet gun because the hand squeezer couldn't reach all the rivets to do by hand. After finishing we decided it would have been easier just to use the pneumatic gun for all the rivets. You can't really see in the pictures, but we used five flush rivets (AN426AD3-4.5) across the top and bottom of the trays and three on the sides. The panel plate rivet holes had to be machine countersunk on the front to take the flush rivets. I hope that after priming and painting the plates, the rivets won't be too visible.

None of this work in very difficult, but it is tedious and one must concentrate to not screw up. So far so good, but sooner or later I'll problably screw up and then have to figure out how to compensate and recover. Of course, a lot of time is used just to figure out how to do some of the cuts, drilling, etc., but that's just part of the project. Oh, don't you just love airplane building!!
