Brief Description:  Sevice Bulletin on fuel tube accomplished.

There was a service bulletin to safety wire the fuel pickup tube that I didn't see until after I had sealed the tank plate to the tank. Using Polygone 3G that I had ordered and a phenolic sraper, I removed the tank cover plate with its fuel tube. After cleaning off the sealant, I installed a new tube (seen in the first picture) which has a screen that the standard tube doesn't have. I had to drill a hole into the AN nut for the safety wire. The antirotation flange had to be removed by drilling out the rivets. This whole process was much easier because the wings are not attached to the fuselage. I'm waiting for a sealant order to reinstall the fuel tube and cover.

I decided to reread the SB to make sure that I hadn't missed something. That's when I noticed that my QB wings and tanks were shipped after the affected date. So I really didn't need to do what I did! Oh well, it just more money and labor. At least I know that I installed it correctly the first time.
