Brief Description:  Experiments with adhesive zip tie mounts.

I was reading the VAF forum and found out the adhesive zip tie mounts that I've been using will come off in the hot Texas sun. Guys have had to glue or pop rivet to keep them in place. I decided to pop rivet those that are behind the instrument panel. I took a #4 flat washer and dimpled it into a cone shape to hold the pop rivet in the plastic mount. It worked great but now I have to order some #4 washers. I just drilled the rivet hole through the foam adhesive and pop riveted using the coned washer in the beveled mount hole.

I used quite a few mounts in the tailcone area to hold static tubing and wiring. I'll have to use glue in that area because thay are attached to the skin. I have some E6000 industrial glue that I will test. The zip tie mounts that I buy at Home Depot show a 185 degree rating, but I'm sure that is just for the plastic part and not for the foam adhesive. I'll have to remove the foam adhesive before I try the glue.

Again, one step forward and two steps back! Just more rework. If only I had known!!
