Brief Description:  Started installing the gear mount sockets.

We were gone from home from 2-13 Oct. We went to Florida to celebrate our first granddaughter's first birthday. We had a great time until we got home on 6 Oct. and recieved a phone call that Charlotte's 97 year old dad was in the hospital. We unpacked our Florida clothes and then packed for Colorado Springs and arrived on 7 Oct. We stayed until he was out of the hospital and back to his assisted living. We returned home on 12 Oct. very exhausted. Needless to say we did not feel like working on the airplane.

We rested a few days then I decided I should install the gear mount sockets. I had previously cut the holes in the fuselage bottom just in front of the carrythrough spar, so I thought this would be an easy intallation. As always, it was more difficult than I had anticitpated. One must back drill 5 holes through the fuselage skin into the mount flange against the fuselage wall and backdrill 2 holes through the mount forward tube support into the fuselage skin. I decided that I had to have at least three bolts holding the mount to the spar before doing any drilling to be sure things would line up correctly. The mount holes would not readily acccept the bolts without cleaning the painted holes with a round file, therefore, I had to remove the tight fitting mounts the first of five in and outs. I was tired at this point and quit for the day.
