Brief Description:  Trying to fit windshield.

The windshield does not fit right. The left side seems to fit and lay against the nose skin while the right lower side sticks out from the skin about 1/2". Van's instructions says to use small metal tabs to hold the plexi against the skin, but others say the buried tabs will cause the fiberglass layup around the windshield to crack. Others on the VAF forum advise to hold the windshield edge to the skin with flox. I'm going to use the flox method to hold the edge down before the fiberglass layup.

We removed the windshield to accomplish some other tasks and to wait for some advice from a fiberglass expert who has done many windshields. I don't want to cut more off the plexi unless I have to.

I drilled two 3/4" holes on each side of the glareshield to run antenna wires to the back of the GPS496 and also to act as windshield defog jets. I hope hot air will come out these holes to defog the windshield in cold conditions. I also applied the self-stick LED red and white light strip to the bottom of the glare shield for panel lighting.

Now waiting for the expert for advice on Friday.
