Brief Description:  Charlotte and I riveted the aileron gap fairings.

Charlotte and I decided to quickly rivet the aileron gap fairings on both wings. Of course, it took longer than we expected. The drawings called for AN470AD-4-5 rivets to be used where they went througn 3 pieces of metal, but we found them to be too long. We learned how to use the rivet cutter and cut them to -4-4.5's. That was just the right length (1.5 the rivet diameter) for the the 3 layers of metal at the inboard and outboard ends, and at the ribs. The -4-4's were used where the fairing and spar only consisted of 2 layers.
We used the Cleaveland manual sqeezer to set the rivets through the spar due to the tight areas at the ribs which precluded me using the pneumatic squeezer. We had plently to clearance to set the flush rivets through the upper wing skin and fairing, therefore, we used the pneumatic squeezer.
