Brief Description: Drilled the aileron hinge brackets to rear spar.
I clecoed the aileron hinge brackets to the wing rear spar on both the left and right wings. I used the new reamers that I had ordered from Avery Tools to ream the holes to final size #30. Charlotte helped me line up the pneumatic drill while the wings were in the cradle, and I reamed the pre-punced holes to final size.
The inboard brackets came out perfect with the rear spar holes perfect. The outboard brackets on both wings were ok but the spar holes were oval shaped and out of limits for an AN470AD4-7 rivet. I don't know why! I called Van's builder's assistance and he didn't know why. His only suggestion was to drill holes in between the prepunched holes if the pitch distances allowed. I did not like the suggestion, so I ordered some 5/32" rivets and clecos from Aircraft Spruce. I will drill out the holes to 5/32" oversize (#21 bit) and set the larger rivets.
I also drilled the holes into the end rib through the outboard bracket flange with no problems. It seems that something easy is always difficult.
