Brief Description:  Fuel tank attach bracket installed.

Now that the garage door is closed with the left wing still installed, I need to attend to the other details of the wing. Today I began the installation of the fuel tank attachment bracket which is designed to loosely hold the front of the wing. A bolt through the front wing tab (into a platenut) is loosely tightened through a large washer into the slot of the attach bracket. The theory is that it would pull out of the slot in a crash landing to avoid rupturing the inboard rib of the fuel tank.

I had previously fabricated the bracket and drilled the holes in the fuselage into a vertical angle inside. Another angle was made as a doubler that fit inside the vertical fuselage angle and is held in place by three rivets and a flush bolt. The bracket is held by two bolts that pass from inside to outside the fuselage through both angles. The bracket is bent (5 degrees) slightly back to flush attach to the wing tab. Then a hole is match drilled through the bracket slot into the tab. Finally a platenut is riveted to the wing tab.
Onward and upward!
