After missing three days of work on the project because my shop vac attacked me by shooting a cap from a spray paint can into my right eye (stupid me), I finally got something done today.
The cold north wind was blowing so hard I had to keep the hangar door closed and use my blindingly bright halogen lamps. With no help today I marked the trim lines on the empennage fairing and tried to figure out a way to hold it down to trim it. I used the vise and spring clamps at odd angles to clamp the crazy thing to the piece of plywood I had on the work bench. I tied the vac hose to my left arm and used my left hand to help hold the Dremel in my right hand. With the face mask protecting my eyes and a dust mask on my face, I somehow trimmed the fairing. I then sanded the edges and attached it to the empennage with stainless steel screws. It looked good except for the left side which had "lips", puckered up over the horz. stab. I'll try using my heat gun tomorrow to bend the lips down with it off the empennage.
I also sanded smooth the hole I filled with flox on the rudder bottom enclosure.
