Brief Description: Removed enclosure for more needed work.
Today I unclecoed the rudder bottom enclosure for some more holes and patching.
1. I marked two more holes to be match drilled at the enclosure forward end to keep the fiberglass skin edges at the rudder arm notches from touching the V-stab skin and hanging during full rudder movement. These areas were not shown on Vans drawing as having a rivet, but I thought they were needed.
2. I enlarged the moon shaped cut at the enclosure forward end to enable easier access with a wrench while inserting and installing the bottom rudder bolt, washer, and nylock nut.
3. I countersunk all enclosure rivet holes using the hand deburring tool.
4. I patched the previous enclosure forward hole by epoxing some fiberglass cloth and using flox to fill the hole. After letting this cure for a day or two, I'll sand it smooth.
Patched the hole at the enclosure forward end. (Enclosure taped to a sawhorse brace.)
