Brief Description:  Crimped pins to wires for circular molex connector

We stopped by Fry's Electronics on the way to the hangar and purchased the circular molex connectors. I crimped the male 0.093" pins to the tail light wires and the female pins to the wires passing through the enclosure. The shield from the shielded wire that I pulled for the strobe was crimped together with the female pin on the black ground wire. The black ground wire was added for local grounding and pulled back through the enclosure and aft bulkhead. I grounded it with a ring crimp connector to the bulkhead just forward of the aft bulkhead using a #8 screw, washer, and nylock nut.

Simulating that the rudder had been removed for painting with a string for each wire hanging out both forward and tail light holes, I tied a string to each connector and pulled them through the forward bushing one at a time into the enclosure and then clecoed it to the rudder. Now, simulating that the rudder was reinstalled, I then pulled each connector (with the assistance of a pick) through the tail light hole. The wires inside were enclosed in a 1/4" vinyl tube to prevent any chafing from the rudder movement.

Charlotte and I then tested the tail light by connecting the DC power supply to the electrical system. After a couple of attempts and no "enlightenment" (because of forgetting to install the fuses into the busses) we finally got the white position light to come on by itself, then followed by the strobe with both lights on together. We did this with me activating the Nav/Strobe light switch in the cockpit. Yeah!!
