Brief Description:  Final fitting of the bottom rudder enclosure.

I wanted to the get the final fitting of the bottom rudder enclosure today. I drilled some 1/16" pilot holes for the light attach screws and a 1/4" hole for the light's wires. I used the #4 screws to attach the light with its foam seal to the enclosure. I then fitted the enclosure to the rudder and moved it left and right and noticed that the enclosure hit some bolts that I had used through the bottom hinge to hold the HDPE rudder stop that I had fabricated. I solved the problem by cutting and sanding a moon shaped scallop at the forward end of the enclosure which also gave me more room to use a wrench when inserting the rudder attach bolt.

I wrapped the wires with silicone self sticking tape before pulling the wires through the snap bushing. The spacing is close and pulling the wire was difficult. Everthing seemed to fit well, so tomorrow I'll decide whether to pop-rivet or add platenuts to attach the enclosure to the rudder. Of course, I'll crimp fittings to the wires and connect them to the light before attaching the enclosure.
