Brief Description:  Worked on upper & lower horz. fairings.

I added the nutplates to the rear turtle deck bulkhead today. I had some #34 flush head pull rivets but no #40 pull rivets. I had to drill out the nutplate rivet holes to accept the #34 rivets and then enlarged the drilled out rivet holes on the turtledeck to #34. I had to use pull rivets because my brother could not hold a bucking bar in that cramped area through the rear bulkhead holes and we could not use clecoes. The #40 clecoes were too small while the #30 were too big for the #34 holes. He reached through the bulkhead hole and held the nutplate while I screwed in a #6 screw to hold the nutplate in place. We then used the manual Stanely pop rivet tool to pull the rivets. What a hassle!! We then drilled the leading edge of the upper empennage faring to match the nutplate holes.

We hung the rudder to check whether I had adusted the middle rod bearing inward enough after the AntiSplat mod, and it fit perfectly.

I drilled out #40 rivets (under the horz stab) in the quickbuild that hold the skin to the longeron. These holes matched the lower aluminum fairings' prepunched holes. I then enlarged these holes to #36 size in preparation for tapping the holes for #6 screws. Tapping these holes, bent over under the stab, was back breaking and shoulder painful.
