Brief Description:  Installed Vert Stab with AntiSplat mod.

Today I finished installing the verical stabilizer along with the AntiSplat modification (no directions or drawing was sent with the mod plates). The mod should significantly strengthen the forward vertical spar bracket connection to the foreward horizontal stab spar. After installing the mod I realized that it was installed differently than explained in AntiSplat's video.

The stainless steel plates which fit perfectly forward of the vert stab bracket were sandwiched between the vert stab bracket and the horizontal stab spar. This moved the vert stab aft 1/16" which caused a small angle when bolting the aft vert stab spar to the rear tailcone bulkhead. This ultimately caused my rudder rod bearings to not be perfectly in line to hang the rudder. I made a 1/2 turn of the rudder middle rod bearing inward toward the rudder spar and it fit perfectly when I hung the rudder.

I think I'll leave the mod as installed since the plates fit perfectly. I'll call AntiSplat to verify that it's OK.

I then drilled out four rivets on the aft turtledeck bulkhead that will take nutplates to hold the forward edge of the empennage fairing.
