Brief Description: Clamped VS to the forward spar attach plate.
A prepunched forward VS spar attach plate is held to the forward HS spar by four bolts. The attach plate sets the offset of the leading edge to the left to counteract the left turn affect of P-factor from the prop at curise speed. The offset is 1/4" to the left of fuselage centerline. The plate also affects the rudder hinge line if too high or too low. Therefore, I made many fittings of the VS clamped to this plate to get things just right before drilling the four bolt holes through the HS spar and plate. Once the plate is riveted to the VS forward spar, the VS can be removed at any time by just unbolting it at the attach plate and aft bulkhead. The rudder hinge line came out perfectly straight.
