Brief Description:  Clamped VS to the HS for measuring.

The VS aft spar is attached to the aft F-712 bulkhead at the bottom with four bolts through the tail tiedown. It is also attached at the top of the bulkhead using an aluminum angle that attaches to the longerons and deck with two bolts and three rivets.. Two bolts go through the VS aft spar into the vertical leg of the angle that also acts as the elevator up stop. The up stop was not trimmed until the bolt holes were drilled. Van's drawing calls for it to be made before hand, but I deviated from the manual plans thinking it might be safer to trim to size after match drilling.

After clamping the VS to the HS and aft bulkhead, I measured many times to be sure that I drilled the holes into the up stop angle and longerons correctly. One only has one chance to do it correctly.
