Brief Description:  Started installing vertical stabilizer.

To install the vertical stabilizer (VS) I had to remove the aft rotary engine stand to be able to get to and remove the aft F-712 bulkhead. The bulkhead had to have the tail tiedown riveted to the inside of the bulkhead. A 5/8" hole had to be drilled into the bottom skin to accept the tiedown ring. I removed the bulkhead after removing the clecoes with some effort while twisting and pulling to get it out of the QB fuselage. The tiedown is riveted to the bulkhead but also is drilled for four bolts to hold the lower part of the aft spar of the VS. After riveting the tiedown and drilling the four holes for the VS spar, I reinserted the aft bulkhead and clecoed it for riveting.

Charlotte riveted and I bucked while installing the F-712 aft bulkhead. The aft VS spar will be attached to this bulkhead.
