Brief Description:  Elevator deflection angles continued.

I called Van's about the adjusting of the elevator rods. Builder assistant Ken said to follow the procedure in the manual to get a place to start. He said that I may have to grind off some of the most aft elevator horn to keep it from hitting the aft bulkhead to reach the minimum up (25 degrees) deflection. The same may be true of the down deflection (file off some down stop material on the QB fuselage). After adjusting the tunnel pushrod to get the sticks about 3-5 degrees forward of straight up, I was able to just get greater than the minimum down (20 degrees) deflection. The sticks were about 3/8" from the panel but did not touch it.

The tunnel rod bearings are less than half screwed in so I might have to make a new rod that is about a half inch longer. I prefer to add extra jam nuts to the rod bearings to keep the pushrod from unscrewing if the jam nut gets loose. Fill up the rod bearing threads with extra jam nuts to prevent the pushrod from unscrewing, i.e. not enough room for the pushrod to completely unscrew.
