Brief Description:  Epoxied interface fairings to main wheel pants.

Before riveting the nutplates to the main gear aft pant, we decided to go ahead and split the interface fairings and glue them in place on the fore and aft pant. We didn't want to get epoxy on the nutplates. We used the Dremel fiberglass cut-off wheel to cut the fairing into a fore a aft section. We mixed up some epoxy after preping the wheel pants by sanding with 60 grint sandpaper and then wiping down with acetone. We prepped the split interface fairings in the same manner. We wetted the wheel pants and the fairings with epoxy and then clecoed the fairings onto the wheel pants to cure over night. Tomorrow we'll add the nutplates.

The oil filler door bulging problem was solved by adding shims (0.63" and 0.040") between the cowling and the piano hinge part that is riveted to the cowling. The shims lowered the piano hinge enough to pull the door down into the cowling recess. This eliminated the 1/16" bulge above the cowling contour. We'll see about stiffening the door if it bulges after flying the airplane, I hope this fall.
